A Blessing for my Daughters

A blessing for my daughters: ⁣ ⁣

Dissent. ⁣

I give you permission to dissent in your full glorious fury.

⁣There are some things worth fighting for. ⁣ ⁣

So dig your beautiful heels in. ⁣ ⁣

As you do so, hold your head straight and strong and keep your eyes steady. ⁣ ⁣

Unblinking.⁣ ⁣

Dissenting can be the kindest action for the greater good.⁣

May you be kind. ⁣ ⁣ Kind is better than nice.

Kindness walks arm in arm with patience and goodness. “Nice” is done for the sake of championing order, despite the cost to yourself. ⁣ ⁣

You do not have to be nice. ⁣ ⁣

Know your boundaries and guard them fiercely. ⁣ ⁣

When (and I do mean when) you are made to feel “less than”— dissent to that too. ⁣ ⁣

Go for it daughter. If it is good, and noble, and right, and true. ⁣ ⁣

The image you bear lifts you high above where the world will try to keep you. ⁣ ⁣
